Sam has a lot of funny lines that show off his cowardliness, so funny intent on the Character's part isn't required. Agree Alice, this goes hand-in-hand with the Varys scene from earlier... under those rules I'm inclined to accept, but it does clearly open up the scope now for "funny lines/reactions". -nyan

In the interest of clarification, is a "Funny Line" something that the _screenwriter_ wrote (e. g. "F/X: Pycelle farts"), or explicitly things characters _say_? -dopeghoti

The initial idea for this category was to reward the clever insults/threats by characters with charisma and great lines, something that illicited a reaction like "oooh BURN!". Tyrion S1 is the prototypical example. On the other hand a character like Gregor Clegane should not dominate this category, even if every grunting sound he gives is intimidating enough to make other characters shit their pants.
So Threats and Insults are based very much on the quality of the writing/line delivery. But based on reactions so far, I'm beginning to see two camps of opinion with regards to humor:
Camp 1. A funny line or joke, obviously spoken in jest.
* Oberyn: "It is rare to meet a Lannister, who shares my enthusiasm for dead Lannisters."
Camp 2. A funny line, whether said intentionally or not.
* Sandor: "What the fuck's a Lommy?"
* Hot Pie: "You CANNOT give up on the gravy."
* Gilly: "I know... 'S'."
Camp 3. Any kind of humorous scene that made the audience laugh.
* Varys: "tsk..." as Tyrion goes for the wine
* Pycelle fart
* Various funny reaction faces
* Hodor saying 'hodor' in a funny context
* Sam's vomiting?
I think Camp 2 should definitely be included - there are too many good lines that will be lost without it. Camp 3 is harder, mainly based on where to draw the line (and every watcher's humor bar is different, and spans a wide range). I think the Vary tsk we scored was clearly in the humor category, but as Alice predicted it opens up a can of worms to all these other potential events. This Pycelle fart was pretty well-timed, but there's not much inherently different about it than Sam's vomiting on the boat (which I'm sure some viewers found comedic).
If Camp 3 is included, I can only see it being very subjectively scored based purely on scorekeeper and/or community opinion. This is fine, but can lead to a lot of time spent debating on what people did or didn't laugh at each week, without ever getting to a definitive answer.
If you're really interested in this topic, I'd also look at the events we scored during S5 (Ctrl+F to "Funny Lines" to skip down), and consider which ones would be excluded if we cut out Camp 3: http://fantasora.com/game/1/season/6/events -nyan

What if you added to camp 1 reactions that are obviously made in jest, such as a character scoffing at another character . That way you wouldn't have to deal with the subjectivity of camp 3 but can include the stipulation that it doesn't have to be spoken -danmirabile13

The Varys tsk and Pycelle fart are in a similar quality ballpark, IMO.
Maybe the line should be drawn for Camp 3 that it must be dialogue-based humor? Would qualify the S5 Jorah nod, Varys tsk, and Pycelle fart (which is ultimately funny because he just spent the preceding 5 lines ranting about "the abomination of Ser Gregor"), but would cut off purely action-based slapstick or situational humor. -nyan

We'll add this Pycelle fart in, and try for including Camp 3 with the "dialogue-based humor" restriction, meaning that the humor must at least be a reaction to, or set up by some spoken dialogue. -nyan
