Generally we've set the precedent of taking off-screen descriptions of events for their word and counting them, even if we don't see them. Lots of political points happen this way (e.g. Blackfish's recapture of Riverrun by Littlefinger), mainly, but the occasional kill or death as well (e.g. Greatjon Umber's death announcement by his son). -nyan
