Missandei lists of Danny's various titles when meeting Jon. Since Danny is a queen in her own eyes now, I don't think she will be introducing or announcing herself anymore. I believe that her special should count when others list off her titles as well.

There's a decent argument for this. What do other people think of tweaking her special to include when others introduce her with all the titles?

IMO, it was slightly more interesting when this was Dany's thing that she would blurt out to every Khal and Slave Master. Otherwise, Robert or Joffrey or Cersei have gotten similar multi-title introductions many times as well. -nyan

Yeah it was like her underdog thing which she isn't anymore. When Missandei called out her titles etc, I first thought of Dany getting points for it - I even made the according submission :D
So yeah, I'm definitely for it.

And yes, Joffrey, Cersei etc. do have these as well, but Dany's are way more creative and most of them sound like she invented them herself, but the more she persisted on her way and perpetuated her self-created heroine - believed in herself, you might say-, the more she gained and so on.
So that does make the perpetual proclamation of her many tiles, names, her history, somewhat different from the standard ruling titles "Protector of the Realm" and so on.

Does Dany get "New Title" points every time they drop a new one in the recitation? Like in this season, she now calls herself already all the Westeros-specific titles as well, if I'm not wrong. I can barely keep track of them all :D -Lem Lemoncake

Hmm I buy that argument for it. For the Kings/Queens of Westeros they have always been a formality, Daenerys has really played a role in perpetuating them and they are unique. I'm onboard with this, but will let it simmer a little bit. -nyan

agreed, tweaking to allow other to use the titles makes sense. especially as now Dany refers to herself mostly as "the true queen" or likewise, so probably won't call herself the other titles -jgiuliano

True about how Dany reciting the titles is more unique than the other kings doing it, but it is only so because she was the one doing it anyway. The only reason we are having this conversation is because she is the only one that lists off her titles herself. When Missandei does it, it serves the same purpose that it did when the High Septon did it for Tommen, or Qyburn did it for Cersei, or Joe Shmo did it for Joffrey. You'd be taking something unique to Daenerys and then applying it to something that is done for every King/Queen of Westeros.

And why would she get points for these new titles? The new totles category for points refers to gains in political power (someone is named Warden, or knighted, or commander of forces, etc). Just because Missandei lists "rightful" ruler of the 7 kingdoms and such does not mean Dany has gained that new position since the last time we saw her. She's been claiming she's the rightful ruler for years, just because her translator is including them in the formal introduction does not make it a new title - not that claiming you're the rightful anything means any political power anyway. Can't take the intended meaning of the word title in the rulebook ane apply it to another interpretation of the word title. If I start calling myself Mother of Fantasy Points that doesn't mean I gained any political power. -hkeseyan

There is a unique aspect for Daenerys, in that her list of titles is so long that there's a bit of an eye roll from everyone in the room (certainly the viewers) as we wait for the list to finish. The announcements for Cersei, et. al. are not nearly a focus.

After the previous conversations I'm a little hesitant to make this change. Unlike the other adjustments that were around "this is more in the spirit and we'll have less controversies going forward if we tweak the scoring", or "this is a brand new idea for a fun special", this feels a bit more like finding a way to grant Dany points, when she didn't quite hit the bar that we set for her at the start of the season.

For scoring them as new titles, I think it violates the existing rule against duplicate/superceded titles, and in addition most of them (e.g. "Breaker of Chains", "Mother of Dragons") are more accurately classified as epithets, and not titles. (e.g. Alexander the Great, Richard the Lionheart, Batman: Dark Knight, Superman: Man of Steel, etc.) -nyan
