I think both the dragons and dragonriders should be nerfed at a cap of 100, as these characters will have scores that far surpass the cumulative score of just about every other character in the show for the entire season, devaluing the whole point system. -altomarj

I think the dragonriders need nerfed as these really aren't their kills (1/2 or 1/4 points maybe?). But capping points just because characters have scored well defeats the whole purpose. I don't have any dragons in my team but I'm sure that those who do, picked them for the exact reason that they would get plenty of kill points, on account for them not being able to get any other form of points. -Jamiemurraytait

there is a very specific rule that says dragon riders get points for kills by the dragon when they ride them - are you suggesting that we change the rules midway through the season? As someone above said, people drafted characters based on the rules available to them. -aflint

Btw some private leagues got set up this way but I would highly recommend not using Direct scoring to determine the winner of your league. Roto or even H2H is much fairer and effectively serves as the "cap" for mega kill points. -nyan

Aflint, the only problem with that logic is that the scoring has already been changed multiple times since the draft happened.
Examples: Daenerys got a new special in that she gets points for her outfits? The Night Kings special has been changed in that it used to say he got points for dragons under his control but now it says if he is riding the dragon. The Night Kings special used to also say that he got kills & follower points for reanimating characters (it wasn't specified to be a named character as it is now). -loganhuff

I think it was a mistake to give dragonriders the same points as their dragons; however, I think moving the goal posts mid-game would be worse. While it's true that post-draft changes have been made, most of the changes have had minor influence (e.g., Daenerys getting points for outfits doesn't even cause rounding errors in her total point count); however, changing the dragonrider scoring at this point would have a HUGE effect, and I say this as someone who was low enough in the draft not to get either Dany or Jon. -dlapato

Part of the reason I drafted Jon was because of the rule he would get points for Rhaegal kills if he was riding him. Doesn't seem fair to just take that away. Changing all the rules/scoring after the draft kind of defeats the whole purpose of the draft..

It's too late in the game to take something like this away. I specifically picked Jon Snow this season based on his special bc last season Dany crushed it with her special. It wouldn't be right the day after an episode like this two top picks get their special taken away, especially with the precedent set by last season. -hindsight44

@loganhuff that was my bad, an old Special description was left on team roster pages that appeared post-draft. However the description for the Night's King stating named followers has been there on the homepage. character page, and all draft pages since the site redesign around January, so I don't think this should have misled anybody during drafting. I can get how this may have confused people for what they got post-draft, though. -nyan

In retrospect this was a mistake, Dragonrider points are not a mechanic that made the fantasy game fun, and I was holding onto it too much for legacy and "make characters worth their importance on the show" reasons. That said, this was put out at the beginning of the season and can't be retracted as all leagues made their picks with this as a known criteria. -nyan

Maybe dragonriders should get a fraction of the kills then? That way people who picked the characters in anticipation of them collecting these points aren't totally screwed but then it isn't unfairly weighted in favor of the top 2 picks (Dany and Jon). There is definitely room to balance this better still while keeping most people happy. Just leaving it as is doesn't solve anything. -codyandrew77
