[Daenerys dragonrider nerf] Per the previous discussions in E3, we won't be removing Daenerys' dragonrider scores but I wanted to open up a discussion thread in light of this episode, to get ideas on designing better scoring rules in the future.

If you removed all of Drogon's kills, Daenerys would be left with ~48 points this episode - which would put her in 3rd place. (Kill of Unnamed Character)

My personal feeling is that Daenerys deserves a lion's share of the credit for the damage Drogon causes in this episode, which feels very different from S8E3. E3 had Drogon doing what Drogon would've done anyway (regardless of whether Dany was riding). In contrast, all the destruction of E5 is clearly happening under Daenerys' command - it'd feel weird for her not to be the "winner" of the episode by a longshot.

Thus you can see the dilemma of going full-on nerf and not giving Dany any credit for her dragons. Their abilities are very intrinsically tied to her character. -nyan

If I had Daenerys on my team I’d feel pretty cheated if she didn’t get all the points. No one watched that episode and thought “Damn! Dragon’s gone mad killing everybody.”. -conor_finlay

Even with this opinion, the special scoring was removed and drogon made a draftable character by its own for this particular reason. Knowing this would happen a lot of us would have choose Dany and not the dragon, knowing she will also get the political points or the lines. The power of drogon resides in his Barbecuing skills. Yes Dany rides him but except from the decision of killing, drogon is the one spitting fire. The skill od Daenerys resides in riding the dragon not aiming, nor increasing his power or anything else. Decision only. Feels like commanded kills to be objective. Coming out third of the episode wouldnt be bad especially leading in other categories where we know starting from this season that she wouldn't be a serial contender for the killing category -emilien.raggi

Yeah, Daenerys ends up being a superset of the dragon which does not make her character as interesting for the game. I would say the balance comes from Daenerys costing more or being drafted much earlier than the dragons. You could get DrogonKills at #8 pick or DrogonKills+Politics+Feels at #1 pick. -nyan

I get that we have to be consistent with episode 3 and the rest of the season and the higher price and early pick with daenerys but again this doesn’t make sence with the whole idea implemented before the season, removing the special and adding drogon as a character, plus the fact of two characters getting kill points for the same death -emilien.raggi

@emilien.raggi Drogon's (and the other dragons') point separation would have come from them independently flying around the battlefield and causing destruction without a dragonrider, which happened in all of S2-7 before this. But the show just didn't pan out that way for S8, Jon/Dany ended up doing nothing besides dragon-riding. -nyan

You can see that the highest ranking teams in episode five scored over 3800 in that episode by having both dany and drogon on their team. But in the standings no one is over 3500 points which suggests that the episode 5 totals are mismatched between the two. -cna984

@cna984 you might be looking at the "Ep. Stats" table which shows you the raw stats from the episode (where the top teams are all Daenerys/Drogon pair owners), where Huge Harry Potter Fan leads with 3918. This is mostly informational.

The scores used for standings are in the "Ep. Roto" table - these are the roto-percentile scores where you are awarded based on the percentile rank of your stats for the week (from 0-100). delet this is the leader this week with 785 in that.

"Categories" shows the sum of all your roto-percentile scores from every episode. And "Roto" is the same roto-percentiles, but organized in what you scored week-to-week.

Sorry this is confusing, there's definitely a better UI that could be used to present this but it kind of got lost in building all the different views. -nyan
