Hmm, this is one of those "would you lose your foot to save a kid on a train track" things isn't it? Theon didn't do anything negative to Yara, and realistically he's in a losing situation and not going to beat Euron 1on1. It's definitely a wuss move for Theon, but it feels like a prudent move for any other character. -nyan

I think it counts as a betrayal, especially considering Yara was JUST telling Ellaria that Theon is her protector and advisor. This is a huge slap in her face, especially since this isn't the first time he's done this to her. -paolarodelas

A betrayal is defined as "an act against the victim's interest, when the victim fully trusted the character to act in theirs." I think its pretty obvious Yara trusted Theon to try and save her and he did the exact opposite -kevinpetsky

Euron would have killed Yara if Theon had attacked. I believe Theon was aware of that. Even though the scene was acted as if Theon got scared and abandoned her, I do believe he acted in her best interest by escaping and trying to save her another day. -Ser Vincent
