I don't think that Jon can make Edd Lord Commander just like that. We've all seen that it needed some kind of election procedure for Jon to get the title. What he did was simply to temporarily give Edd command over Castle Black. Like what captains in Star Trek do when they leave the bridge. I don't remember if that happened before in the series, but in the books commanding power on the Wall and in Castle Black get passed around a few times, when commanding officers have to leave their post.

Or is that cape some token of Lord Commandership? Still, I think Edd would have to be voted, right?

Yeah, I think your interpretation is spot on @Lem. Edd is an acting or interim Lord Commander, which will count as a title even if someone else might get elected permanently later. -nyan

I actually interpreted this scene as a large middle finger to the whole night's watch ideal... Jon was incredibly shaken by being killed for doing 'the right thing' as he puts it, and this event comes just after killing 3 men and the boy olly. Any past enthusiasm for the watch is now switched to retaking Winterfell IMO. -rynearson.david

Looking back at S5, this is the only one I can find for Camp 3: http://fantasora.com/event/1874

The Varys tsk and Pycelle fart are in a similar quality ballpark, IMO.

Maybe the line should be drawn for Camp 3 that it must be dialogue-based humor? Would qualify the S5 Jorah nod, Varys tsk, and Pycelle fart (which is ultimately funny because he just spent the preceding 5 lines ranting about "the abomination of Ser Gregor"), but would cut off purely action-based slapstick or situational humor. -nyan
