If you have a low scoring team week in and week out, I don't think you should be able to move up in the rankings, right? You should have to have players that score points to move up. Roto scoring will keep it closer than raw scoring because the total points you can get for each category is limited by how many teams are in your league, but you still have to have points to move up in the standings. You're best bet might be head-to-head scoring if you want something to matter from week to week, but that also has its limitations because some characters can disappear for several episodes (i.e. Roose, Theon, and Ramsay so far) -wpearsal

wpearsal, it wouldn't be about moving up in the rankings if you have a low-scoring team. It would mean moving up in the rankings--just a BIT--if your team is the ONLY one scoring. Imagine if your team sucks through episodes 1-5 and then in episode 6, you score 5x what anyone else does in every category. Yet it barely makes a dent in raw stats and doesn't affect you at all in roto. I'm not saying you should win, but "winning" an episode should matter. -alicehanners

Clarifying a bit on Roto scoring - Roto Points *always* represent the current state for the season so far, NOT the current episode. So huge performances *will* be able to dramatically shift the standings, similar to normal Direct Points (but unlike the H2H leagues).

So alicehanners in your scenario:
TeamsA/B/C (3 teams) all score 3-5 kills per episode, from Episodes 1-8.
TeamD scores 1 kill per episode from E1-8, and is last place in the category so far.

At the end of E8, TeamA/B/C will have 4, 3, and 2 Roto pts for Kills. TeamD will have 1 Roto pt.

Then TeamD has a HUGE Episode 9 where they score 100+ Kills, enough to put them in 1st place overall for the season. They will jump 3 spots in the category ranking, and at the end of E9 TeamD has 4 Roto pts for Kills, A/B/C have 3, 2, and 1 pts.

Say E10 is a quiet episode and everyone has 1-2 kills, not enough to change the standings. In that case, TeamD remains in the lead for Kills, and ends the season with 4 Roto pts and wins the league (if Kills are the only category).

So for "it barely makes a dent in raw stats and doesn't affect you at all in roto", I think the opposite is actually true. A big episode can mean a huge standings shift in Roto and Normal Direct-scoring leagues. H2H is where it would be impossible to make a big standings shift (a win is still just 1 win, regardless of whether you win 18-15 or 88-15). -nyan

Yeah, these are good arguments for how to fit it in.

1. Betrayal of the Tyrells - it's kind of an indirectly achieved betrayal because she's just supporting the Faith, which so far no one (not Tommen or Margaery) is disagreeing with. But she achieved the same effect, and had the intention all along. I'll probably add it under this.

2. High Sparrow as a Follower is very interesting too. Normally I'd say that a simple position is not enough to be a follower, especially when that position has lots of independent power on its own (e.g. like any of the Small Council). I also have a hunch that the High Sparrow is not as in line with Cersei as she thinks (and she won't be able to control him later on). But I agree that his actions this episode are very much in line with a basic crony/henchmen.

2. Not sure I'd call it a secret - as Loras says, "everyone already knows". This might actually count for the High Sparrow though, because apparently he had no idea.

3. Don't think the changed mind applies because the Sparrow wasn't against imprisoning Loras - he just got new information and agreed that capturing him was the right thing to do.

3. I think in a regular Political move, Loras would be officially her prisoner. But she can't officially betray them so she sidesteps it and has the Sparrow do so.

4. I'd agree with overruling Tommen, but she was very sly about it. She didn't refuse to release him, she just said that she wasn't able to do anything about it. -nyan

This was my initial thought as well, @pretty_mvutherfvcker. You could read it as Stannis calling Jon stupid, because honor is a stupid trait that will get him killed. The precedents for kills and deaths has been to count them in the episode where it was confirmed - Barristan Selmy was treated that way (scored when we actually saw him lying on the table in the next episode), and neither Syrio Forel nor the Hound are actually counted for death points yet. Davos in S2E9 closely paralleled this - received what was possibly a fatal blow, wasn't heard from the rest of the season, then showed up fine in S3E1.

Normally the cliffhangers are between episodes and it's not as big of a deal, since the points are still counted eventually. In this case, teams that drafted Stannis would miss out on the points entirely (if he's actually dead), which is unfortunate. But the false positive is a much bigger problem: if we count a death in S5, then in S6E1 we find out the character is still alive, the S5 results are unequivocally wrong, and we may find ourselves revising scores and winners 9 months later. Counting the death for S6E1 is at least consistent to a rule that we'll count the deaths when we see a body. -nyan

Repeating comment here: the pure scorekeeper in me doesn't like this as much either, but I'll end up recording the Kill and Death points based on it being highly likely that it happened. Pragmatically there is more riding on this death than Barristan's, because his potential death would just be recorded in the subsequent episode, which isn't a possibility here. Ultimately I think more players will be happier with the points recorded.

I'll make this an official "last episode of season" exception in the Rulebook, where the kill/death standard can be lowered from "confirmed" to simply "highly likely". -nyan
