@Lem Bran only half-consciously controlling the Hodors sounds like a good argument for excluding it as a betrayal. It's ambiguous even to what extent Bran is aware of how he is controlling things (both in past vision and real world), and thus it's hard to say he betrayed anyone in his subconscious (intent should matter for betrayals, else klutzy chars like Podrick would be "betraying" friends with their screwups all the time). -nyan

Really good perspectives you both brought up about the kills. I think bookworm is right that we should try to exclude intent - can of worms as you say, and accidental kills should definitely be possible.

Thinking through this, it does feel like there should be some criteria that allows for putting someone into a situation where they'll definitely be killed. Scar flinging Mufasa down to the stampeding buffalo in Long King comes to mind - no control over the actual killers there, but the death doesn't happen without Scar's direct action. From a pedantic perspective this could apply to Balon's death as well - even if it's the ocean that drowned him, it was Euron's throw that put him into that situation (and scorekeeping is all about pedantry =P).

I think we can expand on kills commanded here and ultimately include those under a subset of "inevitable death situation" rules:
I. The killer forces the victim into the situation against their will
II. The situation leads to *inevitable* death
II.I. The entity or force that directly kills the victim needs no skill or decision-making to make the kill, aside from following the commands of the killer.
III. The directly killer still gets rewarded duplicate kill points, if applicable.

What that means for the scenarios we've talked about:
1. Executions like Ned's and Fat Walda's (previously covered by Commanded Kills) are included, since the victims are imprisoned (forced into situation), and could do nothing to avoid death (inevitable). This should be the same whether it was a human killer (Ilyn Payne), controlled animals (Ramsay's hounds), as neither needed skill or decision-making (aside from following commands).

2. Scar throwing Mufasa into a canyon of stampeding buffalo is also included. Even without directly controlling the physical killers, the inevitability and lack of skill/decision-making is the same. Imagine if Ramsay throws Fat Walda into a pit of snakes instead.

3. Pushing the victim into a sword held by someone else would be a more nuanced case. As mentioned above, we don't want to get into judging the intent of the indirect killer here:

3a. The victim is shoved toward the sword-holder, who happens to have his sword positioned in a way that impales the victim. Included for the person-pusher, as no skill/decision or even actions were taken by the sword-holder. This would be the same as if the sword-holder was instead a jagged rock.

3b. The victim is shoved in the direction of the sword-holder, who must aim and position his weapon precisely to impale the victim. This would be excluded for the person-pusher, as it required skill/decision-making on the part of the sword-holder.

4. Most "noble suicides" are excluded by criteria I, because the victim willingly put themselves in it (still counted if they are physically killed by their own action, like Leaf's hand grenade).

5. In all above scenarios, the direct killer (Ilyn, Ramsay's hound, sword-holder) still gets credit. -nyan

I think it's definitely good to count this even if he has already publicly outed Margaery as a sinner. It's exactely this obnoxious way of using every situation to make every last person aware of the sinner that is his speciality. It's like Daenerys repeating her titles over and over again and I'm sure there are more examples.
I assume the repetition came up here because of the question if kills that have already been shown should count if they reappear in Bran's visions? There I would disagree, but to me these are two entirely different things. It might help to step out of the scoring framework for an instant and think about how you experience these different acts while watching the episodes (without having the fantasy league in mind :D).

Maybe, it might also help to think in terms of plot and story. A kill happens once in the story, but the plot may deliver information about that at another time within the narrative - or even multiple times. The High Sparrow's multiple announcements do actually happen that often. Furthermore, it's not about revealing a secret, it's the act of denouncing he likes so much :)

Definitely a huge coup for him this episode. Aside from getting Margaery/Tommen on his side, it was hard to pinpoint something concrete for this new "holy alliance", e.g. did he get promoted to a Pope Sparrow, or is he now effectively in control of King's Landing as you say (technically it should still be Tommen). -nyan

Tommen didn't lose titular control over King's Landing (and indeed the Seven Kingdoms), but the High Sparrow is certainly going to take advantage of Tommen coming under his metaphorical wing. So to speak. Definitely a gain for the High Sparrow, but not a loss for Tommen per se. -dopeghoti

This is a separate command than turning over the castle was, so it should be a different betrayal. Plus, none of the other soldiers are getting arrested. Edmure knows arresting and turning over the Blackfish could result in his uncle's death while the rest of the soldiers are free to continue to live their lives. This is a significantly different betrayal than the others -cfitzgerald

Adding it for now, but we'll see if it opens up a bad can of worms. The spirit of the category is to reward the really good moments written into the show that illicit a solid reaction from the viewer. Insults that make you go "ooh what a burn", threats that you make gulp in sympathy with the target, or funny lines that make you actually laugh. I don't doubt that we can find a handful of weird faces if we're looking really hard for them, but I don't think there are many that were good enough to spark an actual reaction from the audience, and this definitely seemed like one.

That said, everyone's laugh-meter is calibrated to a different level, so if facial expressions and small vocal ticks end up having a much higher variability of opinion vs the spoken lines, we'll revisit and maybe revoke this one. -nyan

@taylor Theon's torture scene is another good example. We actually never did a rewatch for S3 so it hasn't been scored, but it has similarities to this one, though it ends up a good deal more sexual: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZLQxu9aHdc

The game and scoring should continue evolving better definitions, so don't automatically take the S2 points as evidence that this should also count for sex. Instead I would use it as a thought experiment - the two situations are very similar, so whichever way I feel about scoring one, should probably apply to the other. If I feel that they should be scored differently, what is the criteria that differentiates them?

I would also say that, while the on-screen intimacy shown here definitely feels more "deserving" than the Slavers' scene, the game still works as long as the rules are clear and consistent, e.g. if we decide on "full penetration" or "skin-on-skin contact of reproductive organs" as criteria. It can end up excluding a few worthy events, but also adds an extra element of detail to be on the lookout for. The intricacies of wine drinking and the refill mechanics are my personal favorite examples of precise scorekeeping that makes for a more fun fantasy-watching experience, compared to a more common-sense approach that eyeballs how many drinks were consumed. -nyan
