So the one little bit of difference in my mind is that for the little kid, we see both the before and after. So it's a clear, "this happened during the course of the episode". The ram in this case, I don't think was shown anytime earlier, and I worry that giving points for *any* dead bodies that show up will lead to some later scene where we come across a field of hundreds of mutilated bodies and get a line "Drogon must have done this." or "this is the work of Gregor Clegane", and end up rewarding a bunch of points that never had a payoff for show watchers.

Open to other thoughts/interpretations though. This is a good precedent-setter either way. -nyan

Will have to bring the episode back up, but if I recall correctly the opening scene of the episode is the girl playing on the grass hillside. Then Drogon emerges from below the cliff and stares down at her. The later on in the episode the man comes to Daenerys' court with the charred bones. -nyan

Went back to do a rewatch, your memory of the events is right Alice. The scene I was thinking of is from S4E6 - Drogon rises above the cliff to stare down a boy goat herder, then ends up roasting a little goat and snatching it away. The boy escapes unscathed. Later in S4E10 the girls' bones show up without any prior introduction. I also found some previous precedents with Ramsay talking about killing people and just displaying the flayed corpses in S5 which were counted. So in keeping with that, this poor bbq'd ram will count! -nyan

Looks like a slight predicament here - Eddie Eyre (listed as Rowland Selwyn, and currently incorrectly renamed to Howland Reed) in fact plays Oswell Whent. Because players drafted him, we'll have to count the points.

Book-only names won't count, so none of Ned Stark's bannermen are counted as named.

There is slight precedent before for adding "major" characters who never had a spoken name, for example the three White Walkers we've been shown (Sam's kill, Jon's kill, and the thorny-headed king). I just did a rewatch and paused it at this part to try to count, and at least on my computer screen I couldn't do it. It was just a mass of zombies that all flowed together. So this only counts the ship that was burned by Daenerys atop the single dragon, but what about the deaths of the sailors from the other dragons? Ultimately, even though Jon Snow's kills in episode 9 were more personal and shown on screen, the amount of kills that Dany and her dragons committed far outweighed Jon's, thus she should not be trailing him for kills this episode.

I would suggest that the number of ships in the Master's Navy, which was hinted when the initial surrender talks were happening should be multiplied by the 19 we see die on screen. Each ship having 19 sailors evident on screen, but the entire navy is wiped out. I'd have to rewatch to get the exact figure he mentions, but I think it's either 100 or 1000. -mg.flanigan11

As I said before, it's too unfair to existing players who made draft decisions based on rules at the beginning of the season. I think she would actually have to become his follower. A good 10 seconds of screen time (between Randyll deciding and Sam deciding against it) shouldn't count. But also I don't think working in the kitchens at Hornhill is good enough. Who was she actually serving? The head of the kitchen? Melissa Tarly? It could've been any of the Tarlys. I think it's definitely good to count this even if he has already publicly outed Margaery as a sinner. It's exactely this obnoxious way of using every situation to make every last person aware of the sinner that is his speciality. It's like Daenerys repeating her titles over and over again and I'm sure there are more examples.
I assume the repetition came up here because of the question if kills that have already been shown should count if they reappear in Bran's visions? There I would disagree, but to me these are two entirely different things. It might help to step out of the scoring framework for an instant and think about how you experience these different acts while watching the episodes (without having the fantasy league in mind :D).

Maybe, it might also help to think in terms of plot and story. A kill happens once in the story, but the plot may deliver information about that at another time within the narrative - or even multiple times. The High Sparrow's multiple announcements do actually happen that often. Furthermore, it's not about revealing a secret, it's the act of denouncing he likes so much :)

I would say survival in that circumstance is evidence of a convincing argument. She had just confessed to murder yet sh's being set free. We'd have to look at the severity of the crime. If you were accused of murder in front of the Sheriff and you confess, but then argue of your use in the world and your spared the penalty of murder, I'd say your argument was convincing. Jon seals the deal on this one when he threatens that he'll "have her hanged for murder" if she returns. That means he's knowingly releasing a murderer. -mg.flanigan11

With all that we know about Jon Snow, I don't think that there was any doubt that he would have had her killed had she not convinced him otherwise. He executed Janos Slynt for disobeying a direct order from the Lord Commander. Considering Melisandre admitted to burning an innocent girl alive, there is no way his default decision wouldn't have been to kill her. But she managed to convince him to not kill her, so I think she should definitely be rewarded points-wise for still being alive even if she was exiled. I don't think we have a prescedent that a character needs to get everything they're arguing for to get the points, so I think successfully convincing Jon to let her live is good enough for points -cfitzgerald

On the parallel to Davos, I've actually added his Jon Snow follower points here: http://fantasora.com/event/3026. It's a very similar situation in that the characters clearly became a follower at some point, but in a very gradual process. I'm not sure how to score these aside from waiting for a semi-official kind of moment.

Looking through, I actually can't find a Daenerys score for Tyrion as a follower in S5. It's possible this was an oversight, but unless someone can pinpoint a more official declaration of allegiance for Tyrion before this, this seems like the moment for him. -nyan

Adding it for now, but we'll see if it opens up a bad can of worms. The spirit of the category is to reward the really good moments written into the show that illicit a solid reaction from the viewer. Insults that make you go "ooh what a burn", threats that you make gulp in sympathy with the target, or funny lines that make you actually laugh. I don't doubt that we can find a handful of weird faces if we're looking really hard for them, but I don't think there are many that were good enough to spark an actual reaction from the audience, and this definitely seemed like one.

That said, everyone's laugh-meter is calibrated to a different level, so if facial expressions and small vocal ticks end up having a much higher variability of opinion vs the spoken lines, we'll revisit and maybe revoke this one. -nyan

I think we're coalescing around... we know what it is (milk of the poppy), and from what we know of, it's not alcoholic. I think @jedjackoway's suggestion fits with the spirit of the drinking category in this case (being doped up on an opiate is similar to being drunk), but there could also be some issues with expanding to count drinks of other drugs that "mind alter" in dissimilar ways - for example consider Jaqen's special water that makes Arya go blind, or the Sand Snakes' poisons. -nyan

There is a interview with Emilia Clarke specifically about this scene. She agreed to do a nude scene if it was in private. So they filmed her I believe in Belfast on a "closed set" with only a couple of people. They slaughter their sheep and steal their chickens, and from there it's just a short step to carrying off their daughters too. And one day they look around and realize all their friends and kin are gone, that they are fighting beside strangers beneath a banner that they hardly recognize. They don't know where they are or how to get back home and the lord they're fighting for does not know their names, yet here he comes, shouting for them to form up, to make a line with their spears and scythes and sharpened hoes, to stand their ground. I really don't think this should score.

If we aren't super picky about *seeing* the death in flashbacks, then we can potentially construe any flashback of a known dead character we haven't scored yet to be a death, since we can extrapolate that they died from there. That's obviously absurd.

Therefore, it seems like we want the bar for confirmation for deaths in flashbacks to be higher than deaths in the present. -jedjackoway

Definitely we should avoid scoring any flashbacks deaths just because we know they are dead in present-time. In this case, I think all the blood + dialogue (Ned says "You're not going to die" but then Lyanna rejects his attempts to save her) gives just enough evidence to score it as a death even as a normal scene. It's a borderline one for sure, and I think you'll find scenes like a defeated Sandor Clegane just on the other side of that line. -nyan

There was actually a last-minute change to clarify Jorah's special a bit - the old text was "Daneerys leads him on", and it's now "gets friendzoned". Maybe this is getting a little nitty-gritty into friendzones from an veteran friendzoner, but I thought of this as more of a straight insult about Jorah's age/stamina. The friendzone is more about how close you are platonically to someone, while not being anywhere remotely close to getting with them in romantic/physical terms. I definitely think so. I think the argument against this was that we didn't see the arrows go in, but we saw the arrows "loosed" and then saw him full of arrows.

I think, for instance, in the season where Joffrey kills Roz, it shows her full of arrows right after he is done shooting her, and he has the crossbow. Just because we don't specifically see it doesn't mean it wouldn't count as him killing her. Same logic applies, you see the weapon, you see the injury, just because you don't see the exact second of arrow penetration doesn't mean it shouldn't logically count. -taylorreneegoodrich

The criteria for each category is a little different, so I wouldn't automatically use the Kills rules for Wun Wun's special. A character with an empty glass for example, never gets an implied drink score.

I suppose this is moot now that Wun Wun's gone, but I would think about how you would want to reward Wun Wun's scenes. He's a big target, so him getting hit by arrows in a battle is inevitable. The S6E2 scene where he gets hit by the crossbow, shrugs it off, and completely wastes the guy who shot him is sort of the prototypical scene for this special - should the off-screen arrow hits be rewarded the same way?

Also I've been doing a Wun Wun-only rewatch of the battle scenes, and there is actually one other spear jab that I found towards the end of the encirclement. He actually screams in pain from that one, so perhaps it isn't automatic that "Wun Wun has arrows in him" => "he shrugged them off". -nyan

I'd say, since we did see the Wun Wun with the arrows in him, and this _is_ his special, at least some of them should count. I think though that's it's also fair to say that by the time he had breached the gate of Winterfell, that they were taking a toll, so were no longer being 'shrugged off'. -dopeghoti
